Animal cruelty arrest made after 22 equines rescued by ARL of Iowa

DES MOINES, Iowa — Authorities announced an animal cruelty arrest has been made after nearly two dozen equines were removed from properties in central Iowa earlier this week.

The Animal Rescue League announced Wednesday that 11 equines were rescued from two different locations in central Iowa after they were found to be living in poor conditions.

On Thursday, the ARL announced its Animal & Response Team aided in the rescue of 11 additional equines from another location. ARL of Iowa Staff said the 22 equines were taken to the Second Chance Ranch.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office announced an arrest in this case on Friday. Authorities say 48-year-old Angela Voyna was arrested on two counts of Animal Neglect causing injury or death…
