Heat Wave Persists While Severe Storms Loom Monday Night

(Des Moines) The threat for severe thunderstorms returns to the state Monday evening.

Storms are expected to develop after dark across northwest Iowa and could continue into the overnight hours. The primary threats will be large hail and damaging wind gusts. The northwest corner of the state is under a Slight Risk, or Level 2 out of 5, for severe weather.

Farther south, Harrison, Shelby, Audubon, Pottawattamie, and Mills counties, along with portions of Cass, Guthrie, and Montgomery counties, are included in a Marginal Risk, or Level 1 out of 5, for severe storms…
