DES MOINES, Iowa — A downtown Des Moines bridge is back open after law enforcement successfully resolved a crisis situation.

According to the Des Moines Police Department, the Grand Avenue Bridge over the Des Moines River was closed around 10:30 Monday morning as crisis negotiators worked to communicate with an adult male on the bridge. After about two hours, the situation was resolved, and the bridge and surrounding walkways and trails were reopened.
The DMPD said the male involved in the incident is being connected with the appropriate resources for care.
