A 43-year-old Des Moines man faces felony charges in connection with what police say was an incident that involved grooming of a Bettendorf child, according to Scott County arrest affidavits.
William Reed faces felony charge of sexual exploitation of a minor – cause to engage in act, and grooming, according to Scott County Court documents.
In affidavits, police say the incident happened online Feb. 6, when Reed used a computer “to attempt to seduce, solicit, lure or entice a child.”
Officers say Reed contacted the victim via Facebook after noticing the victim was selling clothing online. He asked the victim to sell him clothing, then met with the child to complete the exchange (this was confirmed by traffic camera footage.)…
