Full I-80 Closures, Detours in Dallas County Begin July 21

The Iowa Department of Transportation (IowaDOT) reports that motorists who travel on I-80 in Dallas County need to be aware of upcoming overnight closures that begin on Tuesday, July 21.

Eastbound I-80

  • Crews will close eastbound I-80 at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 21 until 5:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, from U.S. 169 (Exit 110) at De Soto, to Dallas County Road R-16 (Exit 113) near Van Meter.
  • This closure will allow crews to shift eastbound traffic onto the newly constructed lanes.

Westbound I-80

  • Crews will close westbound I-80 from Dallas County Road R-16 (Exit 113) near Van Meter, to Dallas County Road P-56 (Exit 106) to allow for the removal of temporary barrier rail and pavement markings and to paint new markings on the new configuration.
  • Westbound I-80 will be closed from 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, until 5:00 a.m. Thursday, July 23, and again at 9:00 p.m. Thursday, July 23, until 5:00 a.m. Friday, July 24.

U.S. 169 south of Adel is currently closed. Traffic will need to follow the signed detour routes.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
