CLIVE, Iowa – After almost two years, the Clive Greenbelt Trail under the Interstate 80/35 bridge is now open.

The Greenbelt Trail closed in 2024, when contractors started preparation for a new interchange at Hickman Road. While the trail, which runs from Windsor Heights to Waukee, wasn’t under construction, it was closed so crews could work on the interchange above.
When WHO 13 News last covered the closure, many people said this would affect their regular outings and use the Metro’s bike trail system.
On Friday, the City of Clive announced the trail would reopen July 31 at 5 p.m.
