DES MOINES, Iowa — Authorities say a mother and son were arrested following an hours-long incident involving a domestic assault.
The Des Moines Police Department says officers responded to a residence in the Grays Woods neighborhood shortly after 2:00 a.m. Thursday after an open line 911 call during which dispatchers reported hearing a woman crying and a man threatening to harm her.
Upon arrival, law enforcement encountered 57-year-old Deann Remington Schaefer, who told the officers she was the only person in the home and that she had not called 911.
