Madison County murder suspect pleads not guilty, demands speedy trial

WINTERSET, Iowa– The Madison County man accused of murdering his own mother has pleaded not guilty.

Court records show Theodore Corkrean, 23, has also demanded a speedy trial.

Theodore is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the June 21 shooting death of Tammy Corkean. The body of the 60-year-old was found June 22 by sheriff’s deputies during a welfare check of the family’s rural Van Meter home.

Theodore is accused of committing the execution-style shooting before trying to cover it up. He was arrested in West Des Moines while allegedly working on a plan to flee to Mexico, said court records…
