Two Riverside Residents Have State Fair Success in Glass, Crochet Work

The 2026 Iowa State Fair is in the books. Two residents from Riverside earned placements for their heritage and fabric and threads work.

Alice Grimm participated in a handful of fabric and threads categories in the area of crochet. She took home top honors in “Fillet Crochet – Perimeter Under 100 Inches,” was runner-up in “Tablecloth – Over 54 Inches in Diameter” and “Luncheon Cloth – 30 to 54 Inches in Diameter,” and third in “Doily – 2 or More Colors.” Grimm also entered in four other crochet area categories.

Andrew Eckroth competed in six Clear Glass categories. He was runner-up in “Clear Glass – Pressed Water Pitcher,” “Clear Glass – Covered Bowl or Jar,” “Clear Glass – Compote with Lid,” and “Clear Glass – Worthy Item Not Listed.” Eckroth finished fourth in “Clear Glass – Cake Plate on Standard” and “Clear Glass – Berry Set.”…
