POLK CITY, Iowa — Polk City officials worked to remove a truck stuck in a garage after it unexpectedly reversed into a home.

Lt. Matt Aswegan with the Polk City Police Department says officers and Fire Department crews were dispatched to the 500 block of Lincoln Street shortly before 1 p.m. in response to a report of a building collapse due to a vehicle strike.
Upon arrival, officers found a pickup truck halfway into the home’s attached garage, reportedly causing extensive damage but no collapse. Police say nobody was home at the time, and fire crews were quickly able to secure the scene.
Police say the truck was in the driveway of the home across the street and was being worked on by its owner when something mechanical went wrong, and the vehicle unexpectedly went into reverse.
