Former social security commissioner campaigns with Turek as he lays out his solvency fix

DES MOINES, Iowa — Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, who also served as commissioner of the Social Security Administration, campaigned in Iowa with Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Josh Turek.

O’Malley knows the Iowa campaign trail firsthand after an unsuccessful presidential run in 2016. A decade later, he said he is seeing enthusiasm among Iowa Democrats.

“It’s a new generation of leadership which so many of us young, old, middle-aged have been yearning for,” O’Malley said. “So I think this is the most excited I can recall Iowans being about the Democratic ticket in a long, long time.”…
