Mass moved to campus after St. Catherine of Siena flood

In mid-July of this year, St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and Student Center flooded. A leak from the roof triggered the sprinkler system, drowning the nave, sanctuary and auxiliary spaces in water. While construction continues, St. Catherine’s is holding Mass and activities on campus.

PJ McManus, the new priest at St. Catherine’s, was visiting the grave of St. Patrick in Ireland when the flooding occurred.

“Everything it touched basically had to be gotten rid of,” McManus said. “So the furniture, pretty much anything with upholstery, was a loss. The flooring all has to be redone. Most of the walls on the main section have to be sort of reconfigured.”…
