Iowa State Fair announces special America250 exhibits, displays

DES MOINES, Iowa — There’s always something special going on at the Iowa State Fair, but this year organizers are going the extra mile to create an even more memorable fair in honor of the country’s 250th birthday.

As part of the nationwide America250 initiative, the Iowa State Fair will be featuring unique exhibits, events, and displays during the 2026 fair. On Tuesday, officials released more details about the “once-in-a-lifetime” celebration.

A legacy sculpture will be placed in the Ruan Plaza circle by the Giant Slide. The sculpture will celebrate the fair and will be created by Dan Perry, a UNI art professor and Iowa sculptor…
