Woman hospitalized after shooting in Gray’s Lake neighborhood

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Police Department is investigating a shooting in the Gray’s Lake neighborhood that hospitalized a woman early Tuesday morning.

Sgt. Paul Parizek, Public Information Officer of the DMPD, said officers responded to the 1900 block of Casady Drive just after 2:30 a.m. after receiving 911 calls about the shooting. When officers arrived at the scene, they found multiple shell casings in the roadway, but no damage or injuries were reported there.

About 10 minutes after the 911 calls came in, Sgt. Parizek said a woman showed up at MercyOne-Des Moines Medical Center suffering from a gunshot wound to her arm. The woman provided minimal information to police about how the injury happened, but Sgt. Parizek said investigators were able to determine the two incidents were likely linked.
