POLK COUNTY, Iowa– A Des Moines family is facing another delay in the case tied to a deadly crash that killed 40-year-old Matthew “Rex” Ringgenberg nearly one year ago.
According to police, 33-year-old Crystal Ivie was intoxicated, driving on a restricted license and without insurance, when she pulled in front of Ringgenberg’s vehicle. Investigators say two young children were also in the car.
Investigators say the evidence shows Matthew was speeding and that Ivie’s view may have been partially obstructed by a line of trees.
Ivie faces several misdemeanor charges, including OWI, Driving While Barred and Child Endangerment. Her trial, originally set for next week, has now been pushed back several months due to a scheduling conflict.
“A continuance may delay the trial, but it will never silence the truth or erase the way that my brother lived his life,” said Megan Reynolds, Matthew’s sister. “We believe that the truth will come to light and justice will come in God’s own timing.”…
