The Belle: Inside the Restored and Renovated Apartment Building in Downtown Detroit

On June 22, Bedrock debuted The Belle, an apartment and retail building located on Broadway Street in downtown Detroit. The building, formerly known as Harvard Square Center, has been restored and renovated into 42 apartments and a 7,500-square-foot retail space.

Restored by the Kraemer Design Group with interiors by Pophouse, The Belle offers bespoke details, such as dark quartz countertops, emerald-green cabinetry, pendant lighting, stainless steel appliances, and large functioning windows. Amenities include a community lounge with kitchenette and private office space, bike storage, a package room, an access-controlled lobby, and an overall pet-friendly property.

While completely rejuvenated and restored, The Belle still maintains the charm of the past. Among the restorations are the original Rosso Levanto marble on the first and second floor exteriors and the terra cotta detailing on the façade. Inside, the original plaster ceiling of the lobby was restored and painted in the original 1920s color palette. The marble wainscoting also received a refresh, and original terrazzo floors now run throughout the ground floor…
