Southfield approves $65.1M redevelopment of former BCBS campus

SOUTHFIELD – The city of Southfield recently approved a $65.1 million redevelopment project to transform the former Blue Cross Blue Shield campus at 11 Mile and Inkster roads into a mixed-use residential community.

Developers say plans for the campus include converting two former office towers into a mix of workforce housing, ground-floor retail space, and opportunities for future commercial development.

In a statement released on Monday, Southfield Mayor Ken Siver said the development demonstrates the city’s commitment to utilizing aging commercial properties by transforming them into “vibrant destinations that meet today’s market needs.”…
