A few passing showers will move across portions of Southeast Michigan early this morning, but the bigger weather story unfolds later today as heat and humidity peak.
The most favorable timing for strong to severe thunderstorms will be this afternoon and evening, roughly from 2 PM to midnight. Temperatures will soar into the low 90s, with heat indices exceeding 100 degrees in many locations. A Heat Advisory is in effect from noon today through 8 PM for Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne counties. The combination of extreme heat and humidity will make it feel significantly hotter than the actual air temperature, so take precautions if spending time outdoors.
