The Hazel Park School District’s embattled superintendent is fighting to get her job back and receive compensation from the school board for its efforts to oust her over the last two years.
Amy Wilcox filed a federal lawsuit in the Eastern District of Michigan on Sept. 21 against the school district and the board of education for putting her on leave twice, including most recently in July, and declining to bring her back this month. She is also alleging the board violated the Open Meetings Act in the meetings when she was put on leave, that they did not give her due process and violated the Michigan Whistleblowers Protection Act by seeking to oust her after she alerted the board of the Open Meetings Act violation.
