Apple growers across Metro Detroit are harvesting their fruit right now, and the weather will decide if they hit their targets. Spicer’s Orchard in Fenton wants to gather half a million pounds of apples from 50,000 trees spread across 150 acres before early Nov.
Ryan Spicer grows 80 kinds of apples, but his farm may fall short by several thousand pounds if the weather doesn’t cooperate, which he can’t control. “You’re flicking a coin against the weather here every morning,” Spicer said, according to WXYZ.
