Cops pull Sterling Heights teen driver over for speeding in SUV, discover he’s ‘Super Drunk’: police

TROY (WWJ) — A teenage driver from Macomb County was arrested in Oakland County last weekend after he was allegedly caught driving drunk, at over twice the legal limit.

Just after 11 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, Troy Police said officers pulled the 16-year-old boy over at Dequindre Rd. and Wattles, after they clocked him speeding in a 2024 GMC Terrain.

When speaking the Sterling Heights resident, officers noted “his eyes were bloodshot, his speech was slurred, and there was an odor of intoxicants emanating from his person,” according to the police report.

Police said the driver was asked to try some field sobriety evaluations, but failed the test, and then blew a .196% BAC (blood alcohol concentration) on a breathalyzer.

The teen was arrested and taken to the Troy PD lockup where police said a Chemical Breath Test showed results of .206%.

The driver was issued a citation for Operating with a Blood Alcohol Content of .17% or Above.

Under Michigan’s “Super Drunk Laws,” drivers with a BAC more than twice the state’s legal limit of .08% face stiffer penalties, including up to 180 days in jail if convicted.
