Video shows Macomb County deputy lean out of moving car to help driver

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A Macomb County deputy risked her life by climbing into a moving truck to save a man suffering from a medical emergency.

The incident happened around 2:18 p.m. on Gratiot Avenue near Remick Drive in Mount Clemens. Investigators say deputies attempted to stop a silver GMC Sierra for driving erratically. The 63-year-old driver failed to stop for police and continued driving at approximately 5 mph.

The video shows Deputy Miron climbing out of the passenger seat and into the GMC Sierra.

The bodycam video then shows the deputy’s point of view going through the window and putting the truck in park. The driver was taken to a local hospital.

The Macomb County Sheriff praises Deputy Miron for risking her life to save not only the driver but the many others on the road.

“I commend Deputy Miron for putting herself in harm’s way to help a citizen in need and protect other drivers on the roadway,” stated Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham. “Due to her quick thinking and selfless actions, she safely ended what could have been a tragic situation.”
