Students credited with locating classmate who had been abducted at gunpoint

HAMTRAMCK, Mich. (WKRC) — Several Michigan students are being praised for their quick thinking and resourcefulness after they helped police locate one of their classmates, who was reportedly abducted from a bus stop at gunpoint last week.

CBS News reports that the teenage victim was on her way to school Monday when the suspect, 48-year-old Donald James Joseph Arthur Fields, reportedly approached her, placed something at her back and then forced her into the back of a van. The girl placed a 911 call just minutes later, leading police to the intersection where she was taken.

Hamtramck Police then went to the victim’s school to continue the investigation. Once there, they learned several students were tracking the teen using her phone number, cell phone location data and social media, according to reporting from WDIV…
