A newsroom-themed coffee shop called Daily Press Cafe is moving into the former Kung Fu Tea space at 22001 Michigan Avenue in downtown West Dearborn, with the owners targeting an Aug. 1 opening. The compact corner spot plans to pour coffees and teas, blend smoothies and stack deli sandwiches, all inside a space that leans hard into a newsroom aesthetic. Fit-out and construction are just getting underway at Michigan and Monroe as the team prepares to swap bubble tea for a neighborhood cafe.
The plans were first reported by What Now, which quoted owner Mohamad Alshormany, who said the group hopes to open on Aug. 1 and will publish a full menu closer to launch. According to that coverage, the new spot will occupy Suite 150 and highlight seasonal drinks alongside classic cafe fare. The announcement is landing early in the construction timeline, so details remain subject to change…
