Ebola concerns prompt flight diversion from Detroit; Health experts explain real risk

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – Michigan healthcare workers are weighing in on the Ebola outbreak in Africa after a flight carrying a potentially infected passenger was scheduled to land in Detroit on Wednesday.

The Air France flight was scheduled to land at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport, but was rerouted to Montreal, Canada. The passenger on board was from the Democratic Republic of Congo, which is currently under a 30-day travel ban by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says no confirmed cases of Ebola have been reported in the United States from this outbreak, and the overall risk to Americans remains low…
