AbbVie Picks North Carolina for Campus

Drugmaker AbbVie is planning to build a 185-acre manufacturing campus in Durham, N.C., company officials announced. The campus will use advanced technology in the manufacturing of drugs for cancer, immunology and neuroscience.

The campus represents a $1.4-billion investment, officials said. The facility will be located near Research Triangle Park, an area near North Carolina State University, Duke University and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hall that’s home to more than 300 companies and 65,000 thousand workers. Construction will begin this year. AbbVie expects the project to be finished by the end of 2028.
