Person found dead in ‘fully engulfed’ car in Apex after grass fire reported, police say

APEX, N.C. (WNCN) — Police in Apex say they are investigating a “traffic fatality” after a person was found dead inside a burning car late Friday night.

The incident was first reported around 11:30 p.m. as a grass fire near the intersection of Horton Ridge Boulevard and Grants Pass Station Road, south of Humie Olive Road and just west of Apex Friendship Elementary School, Apex officials said.

The Apex Fire Department responded and discovered a vehicle “fully engulfed” in flames near the Friendship Station neighborhood, according to a Sunday morning Apex Police Department news release…
