Jon Scheyer just gave a major hint on early roles for Duke’s star-studded freshman class

As usual, Jon Scheyer signed a monster recruiting class for Duke. The five-man haul featured four 5-star prospects. That quartet should all see the floor in their first season for the Blue Devils, while 4-star Maxime Meyer is a project big man who likely won’t see many minutes right away but should pay major dividends down the line in Durham.

Scheyer has once again built a roster capable of making a push toward the first post-Krzyzewski national title for Duke. That remains the goal, and Duke has gotten agonizingly close in each of the last two seasons. In a single-elimination tournament setting like March Madness that opens itself up to flukes, all you can continue to do is give yourself as many swings at the plate as you can.

Duke should get another swing this year. Along with an elite recruiting class, Scheyer did work in the portal, landing Wisconsin star John Blackwell and Belmont big man Drew Scharnowski.
