2nd arrest in Durham County AC system thefts; heist value tops $1.2 million with new reported case: Deputies

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A second suspect was arrested Friday in recent Durham County air conditioning system thefts worth over $1.2 million, including one from a Durham elementary school valued at $900,000 late last month, deputies said.

The first theft was discovered August 29 at Glenn Elementary School at 2415 E Geer St., where the system was valued at $900,000 and replacement costs topped $1 million, the Durham County Sheriff’s Office and an AC contractor said.
