Warrior fans said farewell to six special seniors prior to the start of the varsity volleyball match against the South Granville Vikings on Tuesday, Sept 22.
The Warriors recognized Shyia Magbie, Terrie Thornton, Makayla Jennings, Kristina Taylor, Jasey Lee and Ixchelth Escoto, all seniors for J. F. Webb.
The battle for county bragging began early in the first set with Kaytlyn Dickerson and Lynlee Kuhn scoring at the net.
Thornton answered for Webb with service winners to give Webb a 2-point lead.
Escoto followed Thornton’s lead and served a winner to keep the momentum going for Webb.
Zekari Fields’ block gave the Vikings a boost an 8-0 run with Tatum Currin serving.
Webb managed to break serve with Lee setting the ball for Taylor to make a play at the net.
Leah Gordon took the next point for the Vikings with a hard attack that landed in the middle of the Webb defense.
Webb stopped the South Granville run with a block from Lee and Giselle Visoso in the middle of the net.
South Granville got back on track with Kaylee Aiken serving. Fields and Kuhn provided points at the net to give the Vikings an 12 point lead.
Escoto’s kill temporarily halted the Vikings scoring.
Dickerson scored on a kill and followed with an ace to extend the lead for the Vikings…
