Richland police arrest man wanted in North Carolina

RICHLAND, Miss. ( WJTV ) – Richland police, along with the U.S. Marshal’s Service, arrested a man who was wanted in North Carolina on sex crime charges.

Investigators said they received information that the suspect, Mark Jacques Greene, of Raleigh, North Carolina, was possibly staying at a Richland hotel. He had eight active felony warrants for:

  • Two counts of Child Rape
  • Four counts of Statutory sex offense with a child
  • Two counts of indecent liberties with a child

Police said the suspect’s vehicle was located at a local hotel and after conducting surveillance, Greene was positively identified while loading personal belongings into the vehicle.

Authorities attempted to arrest Greene, but they said he ran away. After he was surrounded by officers and two K-9’s were deployed, police said Greene surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.

After Greene’s arrest, police said they uncovered what appeared to be a credit card fraud operation, where Greene was involved in stealing bank account information and cloning cards with the stolen account information.
