Final plans approved for indoor softball practice facility at Devon Park

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – The Oklahoma City Council has approved the final plans for an indoor softball practice facility at Devon Park.

According to the city, the project is being funded through the 2025 Bond program. The $25.4 million project will also include an enhanced stadium entrance that features brick columns and shade structures.

“We want this to be a premier softball performance training facility that continues to grow the softball community nationally,” Public Works Director Debbie Miller said. “Our goal is for this to be designated as a United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee training site and to help secure Oklahoma City as the home of the NCAA Women’s College World Series beyond 2035.”

The plans feature two practice infields allowing both teams to practice at the same time while remaining separate, allowing teams to not see, hear or interact with each other during practice.

The facility’s lower level will have the practice areas and team support spaces. Each indoor field will have a team locker room with direct access to the field. Other spaces on the lower level will include sports medicine rooms, a weight room and a laundry area.

“Our vision for Oklahoma City has always centered on creating a world-class home for softball, and this new indoor practice facility and training center is another major step toward that future,” Craig Cress, CEO of USA Softball, said. “As the city prepares to welcome the world to Oklahoma City for the Olympic Games as well as continue its storied tradition of hosting the Women’s College World Series, this facility will provide elite training opportunities for athletes while also creating a lasting impact for our sport long after 2028. It represents our continued commitment to growing softball at every level and ensuring that Oklahoma City remains the Softball Capital of the World.”…
