Oklahoma lacks bids from childcare providers to run facility for state employees

OKLAHOMA CITY — An Oklahoma state agency is planning to try a third time after failing twice before to find a provider willing to operate a five-story childcare center to serve state employees’ children.

After their latest requests for proposals received no bids, the Oklahoma Office of Management and Enterprise Services said it will reissue its request for bids again ahead of the project’s expected completion later this year.

Over $45 million of legislatively appropriated dollars are already being invested into renovating the Kelley Building and Annex, which is located on the Capitol Complex. While the building would become office space for state agencies, state leaders want a private business to move into the annex and operate a childcare center that will serve 250 children, ranging from infants to 5-year-olds…
