OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) — The National Weather Service Office in Norman has said the storms that moved through Oklahoma this morning can be classified as a Derecho. A destructive severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Oklahoma County at 1:15 AM, as well as multiple tornado warnings across Oklahoma for embedded tornadoes. The highest wind gust was recorded in Hinton, with the gust topping out at 102 mph. Other stations recorded gusts over 80 mph. These wind gust have left about 25,000 people without power as of 7:30 AM. Rain stays in the forecast over the next few days, with a marginal risk area today in West and Southwest Oklahoma, and a slight risk area in Northwestern Oklahoma tomorrow night.
