OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (KOKH) — With triple-digit heat putting added strain on air conditioners across Oklahoma City, an HVAC technician with nearly three decades in the industry says simple maintenance could make the difference between a system keeping up and breaking down during the hottest part of the summer.
Tony Lawrence with Arthur’s Air Conditioning and Heating, LLC, has worked in the HVAC industry for 28 years. He said many of the problems he’s seeing during the current stretch of extreme heat aren’t complicated failures. Instead, high temperatures are exposing issues such as dirty systems, restricted airflow, and worn-out parts.
“What I’m finding most of the time is either capacitors that have gone out or the system is dirty, and it just cannot keep up with the load of the triple-digit weather,” Lawrence said…
