Edmond spinal surgeon pays $110,000 in civil penalties over DEA recordkeeping claims

EDMOND, Okla. (KOKH) — An Edmond doctor is paying civil penalties after allegations that he violated the Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act of 1970.

A U.S. Attorney announced doctor Edward Shadid, a spinal surgeon, paid $110,000 after he failed to use proper DEA forms while transferring controlled substances from “Spine and Pain Edmond” to “Spine and Pain Lawton.”

Officials said doctor Shadid also failed to get a separate DEA registration for the Lawton location and maintain a proper inventory of the controlled substances stored at the clinics…
