Vado man gets life in federal prison for 2023 carjacking murder

Las Cruces, N.M. (KFOX14/CBS4) — A 23-year-old New Mexico man has been sentenced to life in federal prison after a jury found he kidnapped, carjacked and killed a Las Cruces man in December 2023, federal prosecutors said.

Brayden Matthew Alvarado, of Vado, was sentenced in federal court in El Paso, according to U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Texas Justin R. Simmons.

Court documents and evidence presented at trial said Alvarado carjacked a man, drove him onto Fort Bliss desert property and fatally shot him in the head with a 12-gauge shotgun…
