EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A migrant smuggling operation that funneled hundreds of people across the U.S.-Mexico border turned deadly in the punishing Texas heat, federal prosecutors say. Now, a jury has convicted the Mexican national accused of helping lead it on five charges.
Juan Carlos Lara-Quezada, also known as “Ironman,” was found guilty of conspiracy to transport aliens resulting in death, conspiracy to harbor aliens, transporting aliens resulting in death, conspiracy to bring in aliens and conspiracy to launder monetary instruments, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas.
