The Erie Bayfront is getting an upgrade just in time for warmer weather, as the Rotary Club of Erie works to install a series of new benches along the waterfront.
On Tuesday, volunteers and partners began installing eight new benches along the north side of the promenade, directly behind the Sheraton Erie Bayfront Hotel. The additions replace older benches that had been deemed unsafe, improving both comfort and safety for residents and visitors who frequent the popular lakeside walkway.
The project is a collaborative effort between the Rotary Club of Erie and Erie County Technical School. Students from the technical school played a hands-on role in bringing the project to life, spending the morning assisting with both the engraving and installation of the benches. Their involvement provided valuable real-world experience while contributing to a lasting community improvement.
Community members can get a closer look at the finished project later today. At 2 p.m., Erie Mayor Daria Devlin will join Rotary Club officials for an official unveiling and celebration of the new benches. The event is expected to highlight the importance of community partnerships in enhancing public spaces along the Bayfront…
