Crawford Erie County Wildland Crew aiding Allgheny National Forest fire

(WJET/WFXP)– Firefighters from Erie and Crawford County are on their way to help with a fire in the Allegheny National Forest stretching an estimated 20 acres.

The Edinboro Fire Department said Friday the Crawford Erie County Wildland Crew will be deploying to help out with the Lancing Fire in McKean County.

According to the Mt. Jewett Fire Department, the fire started on June 4 in Hamilton Township within the Allegheny National Forest and required help from crews from around the area Thursday night until they were released from the scene by forest officials.

Mt. Jewett Fire Department said the fire was still active as of Thursday night and crews would be returning Friday when it’s safe to do so. Until then, they’re asking residents to stay away from the area…
