Severe storms keep avoiding Erie County

The latest weather update shows the severe t-storm watch and the flood advisory have been cancelled for Crawford County. The severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect for Warren and points south, but storms are well south of Warren County at this point, so we look to the west to see if any further redevelopment might take place in the evening with the heating of the rest of the afternoon taking place.

The Storm Prediction Center has just issued a Watch for northwestern OH and northern Indiana, so it’s the trajectory of those storms that’s important. At this point, it looks like the movement would be to the southeast, so we will watch the areas that just got hit with some wind, small hail and minor flooding to see if they might get clipped again this evening. At this point, severe weather is not generally expected across the local area, but more likely to the south of the region. Places to the north like northern Crawford and Erie County have avoided any severe weather at this point, and that trend is likely to continue.

We’ll be watching and tracking everything, but for now, we’ll show the current radar with the watch to our east at this point in yellow, and the other watch in yellow to the west. We’re also including 2 model estimates for this evening, one that shows fairly clear weather and the other that shows the potential for storms to clip again to the southwest.

Finally included is a picture of a tree down in Crawford County from the earlier activity. Regardless, we’ll be here with any updates or if any further watches or warnings are issued. We can say with authority that any showers or storms that may be around this evening will move quickly out tonight, and the weather will be dry and pleasant with increasing sun and lower humidity for your Sunday…
