North East Prepares for Crowds During Big Boy Stop

As Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014 prepares to make its highly anticipated stop in North East on June 9, local officials are expanding viewing opportunities and reminding visitors to prioritize safety. North East expects that bet2ween three to eight thousand people will be watching as the locomotive rolls through.

North East Emergency Management announced that Carson Chesley and C & C Auctioneers have made the former Agway property at 141 South Lake Street available as an additional public viewing area for spectators.

The site will provide visitors with another location to safely watch the arrival of the historic steam locomotive as North East participates in the nationwide celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary.

To help manage the expected influx of visitors, North East Emergency Management has developed a community parking map identifying available parking areas throughout the borough. Parking zones are categorized as open parking, limited parking, and no-parking areas…
