Train enthusiasts and spectators packed the back patio of the Brewerie at Union Station Tuesday morning to catch a glimpse of the legendary Big Boy locomotive as it rolled through Erie on its way to North East.
Hours before its arrival, families, children, retirees and even a few people taking a break from work lined up along the tracks to witness the historic steam engine pass by.
The Brewerie’s back patio offered a front-row seat to the action and quickly filled with people looking to watch the train pass by. The restaurant opened early and offered breakfast sandwiches, donuts, hash browns, mimosas and other special menu items while visitors waited for the locomotive’s arrival.
