Erie came together today for a Juneteenth celebration focused on unity, culture, and to honor the holiday and learn from one another. Community filled Perry Square on Saturday as people came together to honor Juneteenth.
The holiday marking June 19th, 1865, when the last enslaved Black Americans in Texas finally learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
