Cans for Wishes held a community collection event in Saegertown after recently surpassing $250,000 raised for the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
Since launching just over three years ago, the organization has helped 53 wishes by collecting aluminum cans, scrap metal, appliances and other recyclable materials.

“A lot of their fundraising efforts were being cancelled because of COVID, so that’s when Cans for Wishes was born. So, we have just been working hard to make sure that our kids still get their wishes even after COVID and make it a very easy opportunity to raise money to do that,” Diana Blood, the founder of Cans for Wishes, said.
Residents could just drive up with their cars, where the metal would then be picked up by volunteers and thrown into the dumpster nearby to be collected and sorted at a later date…
