Gas prices continue to rise, fueled by increasing crude oil prices. According to AAA, Monday’s national average price per gallon is $4.11, which is up nearly 11 cents from a week ago. New York State’s average price at the pump increased by more than eight cents to $4.23. In Chautauqua County, the average has risen to $4.26, which is more than two cents higher than last Monday. One year ago, the national and statewide averages were $3.15 and $3.17, respectively.
Volatility along the Strait of Hormuz and instability in the Middle Easet have pushed crude oil prices into the high $90s per barrel range last week.
