Sex trafficking is one of the fastest-growing crimes in the U.S., and advocates say most victims are children and young women targeted by someone they already know. Today in Fairview, advocates are using a community cruise-in to push that message into the open.
The second annual Cruise-In at Fairview Collision Center looks like a typical event for car lovers… rows of luxury and vintage cars, but advocates say this event has a much deeper purpose: raising awareness about sex trafficking and the warning signs people often miss.
“You know it’s here in the U.S., here in the Erie area, Northwest Pennsylvania. We have it all around the world with trafficking networks, and we are actively going out and going after the victims, rescuing them, trying to get them into good care, taking down some bad guys when we can,” Bruce Labedu, the director of The Children’s Rescue, said…
