The nationwide average price for a gallon gas has risen sharply as crude oil prices continue to climb amid volatility in the Strait of Hormuz. According to AAA, the national average is up more than 16 cents from a week ago and is now $4.32. Smaller increases are being reported across New York. The statewide average is up nearly eight cents to $4.39. And Chautauqua County’s average rose by nearly two cents and is currently $4.38. One year ago, the national and statewide averages were $3.17 and $3.25, respectively.
