Following inspections and reports of non-compliance, the Department of Human Services revoked the childcare license at the YMCA of Greater Erie Glenwood location.

The citation states that on Sept. 20, a child was left alone in a stairwell without supervision for 15 minutes while the group continued to the classroom without staff being aware that the child was not with the group.

The incident was self-reported to DHS that day and the staff member was suspended and later dismissed.

The YMCA of Greater Erie appealed the decision DHS made regarding their childcare license.

The Department of Human Services allowed operation during the appeals process, so Glenwood Childcare continues to be open under DHS guidance during this time.
