UPMC is planning to lay off more than 1,000 of its employees due to post-pandemic healthcare challenges, according to a statement Wednesday. We’re told the reductions primarily impact non-clinical, non-member-facing, administrative staff throughout UPMC’s health system. The layoffs are being done through attrition, the closing of open positions, elimination of redundancies and other means.
